Anti-painful irradiation in chronic diseases of the joints or soft tissues (painful arthrosis of large or small joints, “tennis elbow”, calcaneal spur, vertex bursitis, etc.) also belong to the spectrum of our competence.
In developing the concept of medical treatment rooms, we paid special attention to the appropriate atmosphere.
In the Department of Radiation Therapy, we use a modern linear accelerator manufactured by Elekta Company. In addition to traditional 3D-conformal radiotherapy, it can also be used for intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), VMAT (volumetric modulated arc therapy), and image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT) using integrated computed tomography (cone-beam CT). These modern methods make it possible to conduct radiotherapy with special accuracy and maximum safety of healthy tissues.
For individual planning of irradiation, visual anatomy data of the patient are obtained using computer tomographs Philips BigBore. These devices have a distinctive feature: in comparison with other computer tomographs, they have a particularly large diameter of the hole – 85 cm. This facilitates the examination of patients with obesity and patients with fear of enclosed space.
VMAT (volumetric modulated arc therapy) is the next stage in the development of the IMRT method. Due to this dynamic technique, the robotic irradiating arm of the apparatus moves along the arc around the patient, while simultaneously controlling the speed of rotation, the size and shape of the irradiation field, and the dose rate of the irradiation dose.
