Clinic of cardiology and General internal medicine

Chief physician

Professor, Doctor of medical Sciences Hans Martin Hoffmeister

Professor Hoffmeister became head of the important Department of Internal Medicine at the Solingen Hospital 20 years ago, on September 1, 2001. Since then, the status of cardiology not only in the hospital, but also in the public consciousness has been further expanded and strengthened.

As a result of his medical vocation, Prof. Dr. Hoffmeister initially benefited his patients above all in his professional life. Cardiovascular diseases continue to be the most frequent cause of death in Germany and, according to the Robert Koch Institute, account for a total of 40 percent of all deaths.

As chief physician, Prof. Dr. Hoffmeister attached great importance to keeping the equipment of the clinic up to date. The presence of two cardiac catheter laboratories allows for rapid emergency cardiac catheter examinations in the event of a heart attack.
