Neurosurgery

The Department of Neurosurgery at the University Hospital Solingen is one of the best in Germany. Numerous awards, such as the Medical Innovation Award and the Focus Rating, testify to this. The department is a practical and experimental site of the Medical University of Cologne. One of the main areas of focus is the treatment of diseases of the brain and spine.

The Medical University of Cologne, on the basis of the Solingen Hospital, has opened two specialised regional centres, the Brain Tumour Centre and the Spine Centre, where leading neurosurgeons and oncologists of Germany share their experience and are engaged in practical and scientific work.

The neurosurgical department of the hospital successfully diagnoses and treats diseases such as:

  • brain tumours;
  • meningiomas;
  • glioblastomas;
  • astrocytomas;
  • pituitary tumours;
  • the effects of strokes;
  • brain and spinal cord injuries;
  • herniated discs and spinal tumours.

More than 2,000 patients with the most complex cases are treated each year at the Department of Neurosurgery at the University Hospital Solingen.

The Department of Neurosurgery at the University Hospital Solingen is technically equipped with the most modern and advanced equipment:

  • state-of-the-art neuronavigation techniques;
  • minimally invasive brain and spine surgeries;
  • three-dimensional planning of surgery;
