Professor Doctor Marcel Dihné, MD
, has been head of the Department of Neurology at Solingen City Hospital since January 2024 and is one of the most recognised and leading experts in the field of neurology and epilepsy in Germany and Europe. With state-of-the-art equipment and many years of experience, he has been successfully treating epilepsy from other neurological diseases for more than 10 years. Every year Professor Dihné and his team treat more than 760 patients with epilepsy. At the Academic Hospital Solingen in the stroke treatment centre (‘Stroke Unit’), the professor and his team offer patients the most modern and advanced treatment methods for all neurological diseases.

From 2013 to November 2023, Professor Dihné successfully headed the Department of Neurology at the St. Lukas Klinik Solingen for 10 years, where he gained extensive and rich experience in the treatment of neurological diseases.

Professor Dihné is the author of numerous publications in leading German and European medical journals.

He holds a large number of additional certificates, including the DEGUM II certificate as an instructor in neurological ultrasound and the EEG certificate as an instructor at St. Luke's Hospital, as well as a certificate in epileptology.  Professor Dihné was awarded the Christian and Claudia Hempel Foundation Research Award for outstanding research in the field of clinical stem cell research.

Professor Dihné specialises in neurology, strokes, epilepsy, nervous system regeneration, stem cells and microelectrode arrays.

He completed his education at the Neurological University Hospital Tübingen and the Hertie Institute for Clinical Brain Research between 2011 and 2013, before that he studied at the Neurological University Hospital Düsseldorf from 2004 to 2011 and at the Centre for Molecular Neurobiology in Hamburg from 2001 to 2004. He started his scientific career at the University of Aachen.
