APPOINTMENT OF MR. PROF. WOLFGANG SCHWENK, MD TO POST OF CHIEF DOCTOR OF THE CLINIC FOR GENERAL, VISCERAL AND VASCULAR SURGERY

Dear ladies and gentlemen, dear colleagues,

At the meeting of the Supervisory Board on May 29, 2017, I received approval for the appointment of Mr. Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Schwenk as a chief doctor of the Clinic for General, Visceral and Vascular Surgery based on the results of the selection conducted by the internal qualification commission. By already concluded discussion of the contract, today I am happy to inform you that Prof. Dr. Schwenk will take up his duties on July 1, 2017.

Our clinic will continue the fruitful traditions laid down by Prof., Honorary Doctor of Sciences Hans-Joachim and glorified the hospital far beyond Solingen, together with Mr. Prof. Dr. Sсhwenk as the chief doctor of the Clinic for General, Visceral and Vascular Surgery.  Mr. Prof. Dr. Schwenk is a recognized specialist in Germany. He is known as a leading specialist in the field of abdominal surgery and is a pioneer of minimally invasive interventions. We acquire a champion of the optimal perioperative treatment of surgical patients, from which we expect to get a new impetus for interdisciplinary and interprofessional teamwork.

A native of Düsseldorf, who wished to return to his native region after his stay in Berlin and Hamburg, has excellent connections in the Rhineland. I am happy for our entire clinic regarding the forthcoming joint work with Prof. Dr. Schwenk and I wish, in the first place, to all employees of the Clinic for General, Visceral and Vascular Surgery and Surgical Departments, a successful start in the new chapter of the further development of specialized departments.

Mr. Prof. Dr. Schwenk will be represented at the celebration on Wednesday, June 28 at 16:00 in the cafeteria for the staff.
